Sprouts
A month or so ago I read an article that could spell disaster at Christmas for us Brits....a shortage of sprouts!
It's not just sprouts, all root vegetables have suffered from our extremely wet weather and although unlikely we will run out of sprouts and our favourite yule-tide vegetables, the prices may be higher than we have been used to.
Sprouts seem to be one of the "love them" / "hate them" foods, personally I am a lover. My husband on the other hand is a hater.
Nevertheless I shall be cooking sprouts on Christmas day!
I've read several recipes for sprouts, looking at alternatives that might entice husband into trying a spoonful. I found sprouts with bacon, sprout gratin, mashed sprouts with chestnuts and creamed sprouts, but have come to the conclusion that none of these would persuade my husband to taste one.
Therefore, I shall be cooking my sprouts Au natural.
Wash, criss cross the base and steam until tender.

Henry and I love sprouts, but as Amy and Mark hate them we very rarely eat them. Fortunately we are going to my parents for Christmas dinner and as they are huge fans, we'll get to eat as many as we like :)
ReplyDeleteI cook them for me and the kids. Did try sliding one onto Garys plate once but he spotted it hehe!
